Re: “Update: Oyster Fest Mess

Because of recent financial woes, Koopman said, Main Street needs money to keep Oyster Fest afloat. Not to mention Main Street’s other events throughout the year, including Arts! Arcata. The fee will allow Main Street to fund an aquaculture grant and an Arcata High School scholarship program, she said.

LIE = telling people the fee is needed to stay afloat, but then mention almost immediately thereafter that the FEE INCREASE is gonna be needed for an AQUACULTURE GRANT and SCHOLARSHIP (education purposes for the local High School).

Now, is it wrong to say these people are thieves making an attempt to steal wealth out of the pockets of event patrons for "CONVENIENCES" having nothing to do with Oyster Fest.

Anyone know how to change a password since the one issued is not what was personally selected by the commenter, but by a computer system. - HOJ

Re: “Hemorrhaging Money, County Proposes Layoffs, Furloughs

Get rid of the more efficient employee + two more?

Hmm, HOJ counts 5 supervisors being ALL OVERPAID. To save $84,000.00 (give or take), each supervisor would have to "give-up" how much of their salary? Ah, that is right, they are at the top of the food chain. Hmmm, of the 3 people being laid-off, did they vote in favor of any of the current supervisors or past supervisors? Did these 3 people ever consider their local government as backstabbers? Probably not because government employment is eye candy that sells. - HOJ

Re: “Who Broke and Entered and Burglarized the TV Station?

Maybe the thieves will put to better use those cameras since the local news station sucks. On the bad, it is wrong to thieve. Reality though is that many local news outlets (blogs, papers, etc...) blow chunks, and that is why the affected news syndicates/outlets are feeling the pinch of the Grinch! - HOJ

Re: “Man Arrested After Walking Past Elementary School With Shotgun

Who wants to understand that this guy most likely did what he did because of MEDIA? Media amplifies the negativity that they report because of greed. Same goes for Hollywood, athletes, etc... Get rid of the "boob tube" and watch America heal., seriously! Much of North American violence is manifested through the tele set!!!!!!!!!!!!! - HOJ

Re: “Fortuna Man Shot at Samoa Beach

Cool then; one is a beat writer, another is civicly involved. Disagree on title inference being too lengthy (Quality is not minimizing words to misrepresent or camoflauge). Anyhow, it was also a title thought that "Fortuna Man Shot Walking on Samoa Beach" or "Fortuna Man hit by Stray Bullet at Samoa Beach". The point is AGAIN, the original title infers something that does not seem to fit the reasoning/account of the victim. The original title somewhat implies a purpose by another to inflict bodily injury. (They did not see anyone in the area, thereby inferring negligence) It is a wonder if the bullet or shot or whatever it was became lodged into his foot. Awefully weird that a bullet, pellet or ball hits first in the buttox, then down into the foot. Was the foot in stride behind the guys rear quarters so as to receive the stray bullet, pellet or ball while walking? And, the trajectory seems to be a verticle one, top down (by explanation of victim). Or, could have the first two "shots" both hit the guy, one in buttox and one in the foot. If this is the case, then it was not reported as such. The fact is that media will "taint a headline" just to get the curiousness of people to read something, and often enough, the reader is still pondering wtf. Sincerely,
