Say it loud and proud. Local newspapers are a valuable resource. We deliver The World in Coos Bay for .38 a day six days a week. Lucky for us many readers are still reading the paper copy, but our FREE internet version is getting more readers than we have print subscribers. This is the model that is crushing big city newspapers - never planned a business model for revenue off the web, even the web advertising lasts longer and gets more views for less money than in the print version.
Its like two sides of a mirror sometimes, what the right rants is crazy talk to the left and what the left rants is crazy talk the right. It seems clear thinking has been lost at sea and there is no middle ground for communicating to solve real problems. Lots of hot air and hogwash being dished up daily. At least Stephen Colbert does it to entertain us. These other people seem to think their ranting point of view is for real.
Go Judy! Thanks for letting us in on the story. I've done some canvassing and GOTV here in Oregon. It is exciting to connect with all the positive voters. Even the few McCain voters I met were at least cordial. I got a high five from an excited 8 year old and met a 99 year old voter at home. Hope is rising!
Re: “Big Year, Big News”
Congratulations on your anniversary and future plans. Judy, I've been a fan of your writing since the Arcata Union days. Strong and sensible journalism is always interesting!
