For as long as i can remember, one of the Universities down south, has conducted summer field trips to gather native american artifacts in this community. this with no regard for locals, indian or otherwise, and with no museum, or exhibit to enrich this area. Typical case of the govt itself doing what it jails and fines the public for doing.

Excellent article. The history of fishermen is to overfish. It is a historical fact. The fishery is weak, and hurting. All involved should gladly step back and involve in healing. This includes Native Americans. No bitching. No sniveling. Fish first. It is time.

A sidebar to this unfortunate incident is sexism. Namely, the fate of male drivers who kill and maim vs. female. In almost every case, the male is demonized, alchohol or no, and gets serious jail time, while the female car killer gets a "poor baby should pay more attention and if you do this again we will just have a hissy fit" and given no time whatsover. Check it out. Remember the Roger Rodoni case? Happens every time.
