Worked many years at St. Joes.
They do not color code surgical patients by gown color. Their standard patient gowns are green and quite ugly. I just can't buy that part of the claim.
St. Joe's is a Catholic hospital. Right or wrong, they refuse to do sterilization procedures for anyone, male or female. The hysterectomy scheduled at St. Joes for this person was essentially a sterilization procedure, since it would be removing a healthy uterus. I have to wonder about the surgeon who set this up - no way they did not know the St. Joe position on sterilization.
I feel really bad for the patient not getting the surgery they wanted and wish St. Joes would change their policies, but doubt that will happen. All the surgeon had to do was schedule the procedure at the non religious based hospital a few miles up the road.
Why does this feel like a set up for a test case?
