Rip, Jim. I always admired their spirit. My condolences to Nell.
"It can potentially provide substantial environmental and economic benefits to the citizens of Humboldt County." What substantial benefits would those be? I understand the opposite to be true. Please explain.
" The project will produce electricity for Humboldt County at very competitive prices and will greatly help RCEA meet its commitment for "100 percent of electricity, from clean, renewable sources by 2025."" Is that true? It is my understanding that Humboldt will get little to none of the electricity.
"I am also expecting that Terra-Gen will sign formal agreements with local labor leaders to maximize local employment during construction and operation of the system." We learned, at the meetings, that the project will create about 15 local jobs, most of them temporary.
I have been unable to find a community, anywhere, who welcomed the turbines and were happy about it 10 years later.
"Meanwhile, the Humboldt State University Department of Journalism and the University Senate have both come out against the administrations decision to dismantle the campus public radio station, which stunned staff and the community."
So, the staff and community are stunned that the Dept. of Journalism and the Senate have come out against the dismantling of KHSU ...... ? I think I know what Kim was trying to say, but that is a heck of an ambiguous sentence ...... for an editor!
How about, "The HSU Dept. of Journalism, the University Senate, as well as KHSU staff and community, were stunned by the decision to dismantle the campus public radio station."

Floyd is a good man. Obviously, he is struggling. He needs help - not to have his land taken! Where is our humanity?
