This is a great day for the university and
the whole North Coast. Its far more than a name change: the university from now on will be focused on engineering, science and sustainability. It will become a leader in ways to fight and mitigate climate change, to restore our forests to health, and to heal the oceans and our fisheries. It will also be a fantastic engine for growth (doubling the size of the student body) and job creation.
Michael, I wish I had known your beloved Katey. What a wonderful world it would be if more people followed her example! I know you are hurting at the hole left in your life. Thank you for sharing this lovely obituary. May her memory be a blessing, always.
It’s a great idea, and lines up with the excellent programs in marine fisheries and sciences, forestry, ecosystem management and sustainability. Cal Poly Humboldt has a nice ring to it.
Thank you for working hard to protect us, Doctor. We appreciate your efforts.
Great article. Keep it up, Mr. Wallin. Youre a talented man.
No water, no sewage capacity, and an unstable bluff. A total eyesore that disrupts the view of a tranquil, forested seabluff. Huge traffic increase requiring a new offranp for this town of 300. Why is this even on the table? Money, of course.
Re: “'Upside Down'”
I’m disappointed that the author buried toward the end of the article the fact that the university offered these students FREE housing and they turned it down.
