Re: “Retired FBI Agent: Lawson's Murder Can and Should Be Solved

If it were the son of a prominent and well-established Local, you can be sure that this "mystery" would have been solved - or at the very least, a scapegoat found - by now. But outsiders can only dream of getting the Humboldt County Just-us style Justice.

Re: “Julie Benbow Tapped to Head Visitor's Bureau After Supes Extend Contract

"Locals only" is a way of life in Humboldt County. No doubt Ms. Benbow is a descendant of whomever the town was named after. It sure is "funny" how so many of the sinecures that are handed out around here seem to be handed out to the well-connected "locals" only.

I'll be sure to tell all whom I meet when I manage to extract myself from this west coast version of Hazard County - of what they can expect, should they be so foolish as to actually consider relocating here.

"Lost Coast"? It seems that ethics were the first to be lost here.

Re: “Eureka Council Rejects Humboldt Made's Proposal, Moves Forward with Virginia Marketing Firm

Closed Session? Skulking behind closed doors to cover up the traces of their dirty deal, while fobbing the blame off onto unnamed - and conveniently unaccountable - "staff".

Corruption remains "Humboldt Made"

@Ca4Life - The Good Old Boys may be up for a RICO lawsuit. Bid Rigging is illegal.

Re: “Eureka Staff Repeatedly Provided Council, Public Inaccurate Information About Marketing Contract Process

Humboldt Made is constantly referred to as a "non profit" when it is in fact a privately-owned enterprise organized as a so-called "public benefit" corporation. The appearance of impropriety and the apparent (obvious, really) attempt to game the local scene for fun and nepotistic profit should be justification enough for federal intervention and an IRS audit of this organization and its connections to local political machines.
