Re: “McKinleyville Arts Night

Just want to let everyone know that I, (Lauresa Tomlinson) have expanded my art to illustrations in the books I have written. I writes children's books and they are available at most of our local book stores. Among the titles are: "My Interview With a Fairy", Elaytay's Adventures in Space and Time -part one - We Came to Visit". with more to come.

Re: “Arts Alive!

A map would be super cool. You could add all the listings to the interactive, mobile-friendly map.

Old Town Art Gallery (https://www.eurekaoldtownartgallery.com) right on the Plaza, in the heart of Old Town and right next door to Arts and drafts is featuring the work of Lorna Saner this month. Come and see her beautiful fused glass work and see and greet several local artists during Arts Alive!

Re: “Arts Alive!

Many of these galleries are open late and serve refreshments. At the Old Tow Gallery in Eureka, right there on the plaza, you are within walking distance of several galleries and live entertainment. OTAG also serves refreshments and as a "co-op" you can meet and greet several of their artists. It's a great place to start your "Arts Alive! experience.

Re: “McKinleyville Arts Night

It's wonderful that a thriving artistic community is developing in McKinleyville. I moved there in 1975 when it was not-so-affectionately deemed "Oklahoma By the Sea." Culture there at the time was mainly remnants of a dying timber industry. Sewage from failed septic systems flowed through ditches along Central Avenue. McKinley's most prominent feature was the world's tallest phony pole. Education was frowned upon and considered a sell-out to city-slicker elites.

Back then McKinleyville seemed like a Euraka suburb. Now it seems like an Arcata suburb, which is a huge improvement.

My favorite holdover from those days is that "Horses have the Right of Way."

Re: “McKinleyville Arts Night

Great artwork. McKinleyville has come a long way since it was aptly named "Oklahoma By the Sea."

Re: “Third Friday McKinleyville Arts Night

I think it's great that Mckinleyville is starting to do this. I hope it takes off.

Re: “First Saturday Night Arts Alive!

Am I wrong or should the Arts Alive! date read March 01, 2014 not February?
