Enjoy these Drunken Botanist articles, folks. I have the feeling we are seeing a free version of the next excellent book from Amy Stewart in the works, one chapter at a time. Again with this article, she has brought eloquent words to the importance of drinking well. Thank you Amy; keep up the good work.

Love keeping it simple. Grab a bottle of your favorite spirit and enjoy it over the perfect cooling component. We couldn't agree more about the care and delicate balance of flavors that goes into preparing a fine bourbon or gin. The last thing you want to do is throw in tap water ice and impart undesired flavors.
Elegance is simplicity. Simplicity is hard. Cheers!

I was fortunate enough to visit Leopold Bros. this summer on a trip to Denver. They're operating out of a tiny, nondescript office park in the Denver suburbs, but what they're doing is incredible. I brought back a bottle of their Maryland Rye... which is supposedly hitting shelves again this fall. The apple whiskey was completely amazing.. and I'm not much of a flavored whiskey fan. Their cherry liqueur is to die for... I have a bottle of that squirreled away. Look for Leopold Brothers to take over! I've been bugging local liquor stores to carry them, but to no avail (so far).

While a hard apple cider company sounds good for Humboldt Co., I've always thought an apple pie business, fresh and frozen could use the delicious apples that grow so well locally.

I recently tried muddling some peaches in a bit of Dry Fly Bourbon out of Washington State, I will say that peaches and bourbon, especially theirs are a match made in heaven.
