Re: “New Survey Reveals Who Owns Guns in California — and How Many Got Them Without Background Checks

I'm here because I recently found out my cousin has been secretly crying every night because her older brother and 16 year old brother were held at gun point in their room while she was asleep in her room and their dad seems to not care about them. This happened back in July after my birthday, and yet I didn't even know anything about this until today.

Her older brother was told if anyone else was in the house and he replied that there wasn't. The criminals ran away when they heard someone at the kitchen(it was their dad). Ever since then, my cousin (the one who said "No" to the criminals) has been paranoid all year long. He now only sleeps during the mornings & afternoon and awake at the night. Him and I have been best friends since we were babies. But since we have our own lives now, it's not always easy to visit him whenever I want. My earliest memories were him, me, and his little sister running and playing tag in the apartment when I was 4 (currently I'm 22).

Side comment:
The government should pay you $2,500-$5,000 when you know someone that ILLEGALLY has a firearm. An extra $1,000 for every gun after the first one. Or something like this where you are given an incentive such as money. Because no one, or at least most people, won't do this unless they get something out of it.

Example: You get $5,000 after the police imprisons the bad guy you reported to police about having an illegally firearm. And you get an extra $3,000 if the cops find 3 other guns that the bad guy has. So in total you get $8,000 from the government because the bad guy had 4 guns.

Re: “Thousands Could Face Days Without Power as Temperatures Plummet

It's getting worse (and longer) each time we have an outage. Is it odd to anyone else that the outages only come during important times (back to school-halloween eve- Thanksgiving )? Makes me wonder how long we will be denied power over Christmas week? If it's long enough people will be agreeable to any billing hikes necessary to make it stop.😁

Re: “FIFTH UPDATE: Thousands Without Power as Strong Winds Arrive, Snow is Falling

It's irritating that 26 hours after the power went out in Blue Lake the best PG&E can do is 'cause unknown' and not have any estimate for when it will be restored. A little better transparency and information would go a long ways towards conveying that they care about their customers!

Re: “Hundreds Attend ACEs Town Hall Featuring California Surgeon General Nadine Burke Harris (with Video)

Humboldt County lost millions of dollars in wage subsidies for youths when Ronald Reagan cut the California Employment Training Administration.

Ace's can be mitigated immediately through early emancipation programs which Humboldt County seriously lacks. Most youths are eager for the responsibility.

Humboldt County also lacks a 24/7 Mobile Response Team of two professionals to deescalate crises resulting from abuse, addiction, homelessness and metal illness. Leaving this to untrained and non-certified police is resulting in fatalities nationwide.

Re: “St. Joseph Hospital and Redwood Memorial Hospital Healthcare Workers on Strike

This was a very costly vacation for Providence to give us. But I certainly do appreciate it☺️

Re: “St. Joseph Hospital and Redwood Memorial Hospital Healthcare Workers on Strike

replacements for the 1 day strike arrived the day AFTER the strike, when those employees who supported the strike would have already returned to their positions. Employees who were conscientious enough to show up for their shifts on the day of the strike were forced out, escorted out of the building by management teams, and told not to come back to work for 5 days. You do not need replacements for employees who are already on the job - this lockout is a purely a punitive measure and has nothing at all to do with patient care. It's sole intent is to cause financial harm to the lowest paid employees in the organization. Dozens of managers and security guards prevented those employees from returning to work. The sisters of St Joseph would be heartbroken at what providence has done to their legacy.

Re: “New Survey Reveals Who Owns Guns in California — and How Many Got Them Without Background Checks

Yes, lets continue to associate all law abiding constitutionally protected firearms owners with criminals, the mentally ill, and the homicidal. The continued bad faith discussions around firearms in CA and the country at large keep up the insinuation that somehow people who own firearms are some how ok with senseless murder of innocents or the deaths of children in gun free zones. Shame on you for ridiculous reporting of bad stats and bad faith intentions. Im still waiting on any news outlet to cover the cdc findings of how many defensive firearms uses happen annually. Oh wait, that doesnt fit the narrative of all guns are bad let the government take care of you. Well they are called first responders not first preventers for a reason. This piece is despicable as is our countrys current predicament of having lost its mind. And for the record I have been a democrat my whole life and will never vote for an anti gun candidate henceforth. A pox on both their houses.

Re: “Pasta Luego Says Ciao

Hey Nicole! This is the Picante Provolone guy here, like I was saying about the hot pepper hoagie relish and whatever else might set subs apart from the competition: I think with a super streamlined menu and a much smaller retail space free of panhandlers, and I’m sure that outrageous rent there at that location, we could give that “other local sandwich shop” a real run for their money! Food sales are tricky and work on tight margins, but I think we could relaunch in a new spot and kill it!
Yes, the east coast style flavor profiles might be a bit bold at first for the natives but I really think awesome taste and a good value would win in the end...
Let’s grab a Sysco sales rep and see what we can put together?
I have a really good approach for the sub rolls that would cut cost while increasing the quality and control of the finish product too.

If you’re interested in chatting drop me a line here.
