Trinidad Coastal Ambassador Training

Do you frequent our Trinidad beaches, marvel at the iconic offshore rocks, wonder about local wildlife, and feel eager to protect and steward these coastal treasures? The Trinidad Coastal Ambassador Program is designed for community members who feel passionate about being an ambassador, or advocate, for coastal stewardship, conservation, and education. This program will introduce participants to the unique Trinidad area, the work our non-profit does and will engage participants in all the ways to be a volunteer Ambassador; from community science, to leading Stewardship Workdays and guiding educational walks. This three week program will be educational and hands-on, combining Zoom sessions with field trips to coastal properties with the goal of providing opportunities for ambassadors to enter into leadership roles centered around coastal conservation. We will learn about topics ranging from flora and fauna of Trinidad, the California Coastal National Monument, stewardship techniques, as well as leadership and group facilitation skills. In order to continue keeping our community safe during COVID-19, this year's Ambassador training includes a mixture of weekday evening Zoom sessions and weekend outdoor field sessions. Participants must agree to wear facial coverings and comply with physical distancing between households throughout the duration of the field sessions. Training participants must attend all Zoom and field sessions. Graduated ambassadors are expected to be active volunteers with the Land Trust, donating 3 hours a month to support our coastal education and stewardship programs. Participants are responsible for transportation to field sessions in the Trinidad area.
