Enjoying sunset (and moonrise!) on a moonlight hike to King Peak

King Peak Moonlight Hike

At 4088ft, King Peak is the highest point in King Range National Conservation Area and on Monday, July 31 join Friends of the Lost Coast for a moonlight hike to its summit. Meet at the BLM office in Whitethorn at 3:30pm to caravan to Lightning Trailhead, climb the peak, enjoy sunset, and start the journey back under the light of the rising moon. This 4.8 mile round trip route includes nearly 2000ft of elevation gain and will be strenuous for some. Returning in the moonlight presents additional risks. Space is limited.
