Atalanta Victory Run & Walk is an all women’s event scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 12th. This 32nd annual running event returns to Mother’s Day after being held for the past several years in June. Ladies can still sign up for the 2 or 5-mile event beginning and ending at the Arcata Co-op after traveling west and winding through Arcata’s neighborhood and the Bottoms.
“Ladies love the sense of community that Atalanta fosters with generations of women, from small children in strollers to grandmothers pushing them, having a great time cheering each other on. It is so fitting that the Race returns to Mother’s Day to celebrate us girls,” explains Sherry Myers, race director. Proceeds from Atalanta will be shared with the Humboldt Breast Project and local running teams. Entries can be downloaded at www.6rrc.com or register at the Arcata Co-op on May 10th from 3-6 p.m. Race day entries are also accepted. ~ submitted
