A power outage that began about 2:45 p.m. has left over 1,800 without electricity from Whitethorn to Petrolia from the coast to Garberville, according to the PG&E Outage site.

PG&E says they are investigating the cause. They are giving 7 p.m. as the estimated restore time. Those are usually not based on information about the real conditions but based on their normal time to deal with an outage in that area.

UPDATE 4:07 p.m.:

According to Deanna Contreras from PG&E, PG&E crews are working safely and as quickly as possible to restore power to approximately 1569 customers who are without electricity right now.

The outage started at around 2:45, impacting at total of 1700 customers in Garberville, Petrolia, Redway, Whitehorn, Carlotta, and Honeydew. Crews were able to restore power to 131 customers at about 3:15. We are still looking into the cause of the outage. Right now the estimated time power will be restored is about 7pm but that time could change.
