Reminder: The Great California ShakeOut takes place today at 10:18 a.m. and will include a test of the Humboldt ALERT Emergency Notification System, which will send out notices to those who have registered.
More than 10 million Californians are expected to participate in the drill by practicing the “Drop, Cover and Hold on” mantra of what to do in case of a major earthquake. Those in a tsunami zone are also asked to hold evacuation drills by moving to higher ground.
Read the Facebook post by the Humboldt County Office of Emergency Service below:
Thursday, October 18th at 10:18 a.m. the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services will conduct a TEST of the Humboldt ALERT Emergency Notification System. If you haven't already, register now to be notified by land line, email, cell phone, and push notifications about local disasters, hazards, and emergencies. This will be during ShakeOut! So practice your Drop, Cover, and Hold On! Then conduct a evacuation drill and if you are in a Tsunami Zone, practice getting to higher ground!
