Heads up for folks in McKinleyville: If you need to reach the sheriff’s office substation, call the main line in Eureka for the time being, probably through the end of the week.

According to sheriff’s office spokesperson Samantha Karges, there is an equipment failure and AT&T is estimating the repairs will take until the end of the week. Those needing assistance can call 445-7251 and the substation remains open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The sheriff’s office reminds residents to call 911 in an emergency.
