Oregon Man Killed in Logging Accident

A 31-year-old Oregon man was killed Monday when the tree he was felling came down on him.

Chief Deputy Coroner Ernie Stewart said Travis Jon Cornelison, of Rogue River, was working on a commercial operation for Lord’s Light Logging when the accident occurred near Timber Ridge Lane in the Blue Lake area.

The accident is being investigated by the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

From the Humboldt County Coroner’s Office:


On 08/01/2016 at about 9:30 a.m. a tree faller working in an active logging operation was accidently killed when the tree fell in an unexpected direction. The tree faller was struck by the tree resulting in his sudden death. The logging operation was in the area of Timber Ridge Lane near Blue Lake. Responding agencies included Cal Fire, Humboldt County Sheriff's Office, and Cal Osha.
The deceased person has been positively identified as 31 year old Travis Jon Cornelison from Rouge River, Oregon.
