A New Trail!

OK, so it's been out there ready to tromple along for some time now. But tomorrow - Saturday, March 2 - is the grand opening for the 1.5 mile multiple-use trail through the wildlife sanctuary along the Elk River. It's called the Hikshari Trail - a Wiyot name for the place. Numerous private and government entities collaborated on it. It's got dunes and willows and saltmarsh, as the Redwood Community Action Agency notes. And it's got parking: off Truesdale Avenue, south of Bayshore Mall; along Hilfiker Lane; and off Herrick and 101 at the Pound Road Park and Ride.

Grand opening's 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
