The officeholders' latest stab at loosening term limits has officially bombed , so that means it's time to dosey-do.

Assemblymember Patty Berg and former State Senator Wesley Chesbro are holding a press conference tomorrow to make an "announcement regarding California’s First Assembly District." Wild guess: The announcement will be that Berg, termie-termed out of office, will officially hand the crown to The Chezz. As has long been expected .

That's tomorrow, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at Humboldt Demo Central Committee HQ (129 Fifth St., Eureka.)

Here's the press release (.doc).

UPDATE: Great timing, guys. This from the California Education Coalition :

Eureka -- On Friday at 11 a.m., parents and educators will hold a press conference at the Humboldt County Office of Education to discuss the local impact on students and schools of the Governor's drastic proposal to slash $4.8 billion in education funds statewide. The group will call upon members of the Legislature to uphold Prop. 98, the minimum school funding guarantee, and reject the draconian proposed cuts to schools and students.

The statewide cuts would mean approximately $13.1 million less for Humboldt County schools, which could result in increased class sizes, reduced per-pupil spending and laying off teachers, bus drivers, janitors, food service workers and other education professionals.
That's at the Humboldt County Office of Education, 901 Myrtle Ave., Eureka. It's either this or schmooze with Wes & Patty. Seriously, someone should do a head count.
