Taste of Main Street Takeout Edition

Posted By on Tue, May 12, 2020 at 2:47 PM

A Taste of Main Street, Eureka Main Street's annual social gathering of sampling, snacking and supporting local restaurants/producers, had to be shelved this year due to COVID-19. But we still love to eat, we love to socialize and we love to share what we eat on social media. In that spirit of vicarious living and community supporting community, Eureka Main Street presents the Taste of Main Street - Takeout Challenge.

We might not be able to take to the streets with our eats and smile at each other as we meander off to the next biz in the Taste of Main Street ticket book, but we can gather around our devices and smile upon pics of our pals holding up a fat burger from Surfside Burger Shack (hashtag hell, yeah, I'm trying that) or a bowl of Hawaiian style poke from Big Island Kine (You. Will. Drool.).  The fun is on now through May 14. It's a chance to support local businesses that are taking a huge hit during this time and a chance to win 25 bucks when you hashtag a photo of your takeout on social media.

Eating great food. Trying something new. And keeping local restaurants alive. That's winning all around. Go out and get 'em. And share what's good with all of us. Here are the details from Eureka Main Street's Facebook page:

Due to COVID-19 social distancing regulations the 28th annual Taste of Main Street will be a Takeout Challenge. Instead of purchasing a ticket book to participating restaurants we encourage you to order carry-out or delivery from a Eureka restaurant (no chains, please). Enjoy a meal from your favorite restaurant or be adventurous and try something new, May 7th – May 14th! Take a photo of your meal and share it on this thread. Tag #eurekamainstreet and #eurekatakeoutchallenge to be entered to win a $25 gift certificate to the restaurant of your choice. One winner per day.
