Jason Stoner, of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, etched the finishing touches on this old-growth redwood eagle during the conference.
The 81st annual Redwood Region Logging Conference drew large crowds to Redwood Acres in Eureka March 14-16, with displays of vintage and modern logging industry machinery and trucks, along with chainsaw wood carvers, a wildlife show, a large mix of vendors and college students displaying their skills in the Lumberjack & Jill show. One could also watch the creation of sawdust and fresh-cut boards at the sawmill exhibition. See the slideshow below for highlights.
The event is designed to educate youth and the public in all aspects of the industry, with Thursday's Education Day attracting over 1,500 third through sixth grade students. Friday's Career Day for high school students included a hands-on forestry contest and a meet-up with industry professionals.
The event also offered on-site continuing education classes for professionals. For more information about the event and organization, visit www.rrlc.net.
