The ladies of Humboldt Roller Derby are the epitome of "I am woman, hear me roar." They're fierce, formidable and downright foxy. Roller Derby isn't a sport for the weak or the timid; it's fast paced, hard hitting and adrenaline filled. If you've never had a chance to see The Humboldt Roller Derby in action or if you've been jonesing for some derby action since the close of last season, you'll have a chance to get your fix this Saturday, Jan. 25 at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds (3750 Harris St. Eureka) when Humboldt Roller Derby challenges the Tsunami Sirens. The doors open at 6 p.m. and the whistle blows at 7 p.m.

The awesomeness doesn't end there, though. The NCJ wants to give our readers a chance to win free tickets to this weekend's bout. That's right, free tickets. We can't just give them out to whoever we want, though; that wouldn't be fair, right? So, guess what? It's contest time!

The task is pretty simple. Only a couple of clicks stand between you and a golden ticket. All we need is a screenshot of the Cocktail Compass from your smartphone. It's a super easy process:

Step 1: If you don't already have the Cocktail Compass app on your smartphone, download it (for free) from the NCJ site.
Step 2: Open the app and click on the tab that says "map."
Step 3: Take a screenshot (directions vary based on the type of phone).
Step 4: Upload that screenshot onto the NCJ Facebook page by 8 p.m. on Jan. 22.

Once all entries are in, NCJ will randomly (there will probably be names on paper and a hat involved) choose 2 winners. Each winner will receive 2 tickets. Easy-peazy.
