Best Nighttime Sport and Traffic Hazard
Is it just our neighborhood, or has a new breed of electric light-up Frisbees (or some sort of flying disc) started luring 20-somethings out into the street all over? Long after dark you find them sprinting through intersections, lunging to catch glowing saucers. Watch out. They don’t seem to.

Best Place to Get Bigger, Better, Faster Despite Your Own Lazy Self
If you’re the sort of person who already gets off on working out, all you need to know is Humboldt County’s premiere triathlete, the steely-eyed Pam Jennings, has made Eureka’s Praxis Fitness the nexus of her professional life. But if you’re the sort of person intimidated by gyms or think you don’t need one, then Praxis Fitness is still the right place for you. It’s not scary. Sure, the trainers encourage you to push beyond what you thought were your limits, but if we always defined our own limits, we’d never get anywhere, right?
Don’t need a gym? You must already be in prime physical glory with a long-term plan to stay that way. If that’s not the case, then, seriously, if you value good health, if you want to be a stronger hiker, faster cyclist, better lover, able to dance for hours, possessor of the greater emotional stability that comes with regularly working up a sweat, the path to self-improvement starts here. This “best of” guide seems to have been written by people who know little or nothing about the real Humboldt. Many of these things are only Old Town Eureka or Arcata things. Which is kind of funny because the Journal used to be in Arcata but is now in Old Town. It is obvious that every single person who wrote something for this wasted issue of the NCJ was just another local idiot who has no idea what real quality is. Come on, the sunbather? Really? He’s been around for years. This is NOT NEWS TO ANYONE. As usual, Journal FAIL.

love the Rick Fugate “best of”. Well done Andrew.

Fugate plays great accordion, but 5 kids with one on the way? Please don’t reward reckless procreation with $$ in his case.

Hey, Looloo. This party is interactive. Tell us what we missed and why you think it’s great. If you’re still angry after that, maybe you can make a “Worst of Humboldt” issue and put us on the cover. We won’t mind.

Once again, I made the mistake of reading the comments section. Looloo, you’ll learn one day that name calling only makes people not give a shit about what you have to say. And “Me”, your comment is just sad. NCJ, great job on the article. Three Foods and Missing Link Records are two of my favorite places!
