(June 3, 2010) Editor:
I would like to make a statement regarding your article “DA Trials” by Ryan Burns (May 27), specifically regarding Paul Gallegos.
I am currently a Deputy District Attorney working for Mr. Gallegos. Burns states in his article: “If there’s any residual tension or bitterness here, it’s not visible to the untrained eye.” That is because there is no residual tension or bitterness. Paul is dedicated to the pursuit of justice and the protection of the community, as we all are. Paul is available to consult with us on our cases, and his guidance inevitably involves taking the higher road and doing the right thing, even when it isn’t the easy thing to do. Our office is composed of extremely hardworking, dedicated personnel who take our jobs very seriously and personally. Paul personifies that dedication and is a role model for the rest of us.
I am not in line for any promotions, raise or special assignments. I am writing this letter on my own initiative because I believe it is the right thing to do.

I like how this is titled “LOW Tension” but Elan’s letter states, clearly, there is “NO Tension”.
