(May 7, 2009) Editor:
I am an 11-year-old who read your article about court appointed special advocates (“The CASA,” April 23). It was a long article, but interesting. It sounds like CASA is doing good and important work with children in our community.
If I were a kid who was neglected, abused or had to be in the legal system for some reason, I think I would want a court appointed special advocate. When I read about the kids in the article, I’m thankful for my life and sorry that some families have such a challenging time. I hope that if parents are sick, in jail or can’t care for their children now, that the kids can one day be with their parents again, or a relative, guardian or foster parent and have a safe and happy life.
