(Nov. 26, 2008) A story in last week’s paper about Mad River Community Hospital’s loss of several operating room nurses (“Urgent Care,” Nov. 20) misstated the position of Dr. Gregory Gibb. He is no longer the president of the Humboldt Del-Norte Independent Practice Association, having vacated the post in July. The current president is Dr. Bruce Kessler. Dr. Gibb still serves on the association’s board of directors.
In addition, the California Medical Association was puzzled by a reference, in the same story, to its alleged position that “the North Coast simply cannot sustain three acute-care hospitals,” which was taken from an earlier Journal article (“Saved,” Dec. 14, 2006). A spokesperson for the organization said that while one of its representatives might conceivably have made such a remark at one time, in an offhand fashion, the CMA does not have any official position on the matter.
The Journal regrets the errors.
