(Oct. 30, 2008) Editor:
Since you guys are in the print biz, which involves writing, we who shall be known as “readers” wish to hell you’d know, as a matter of form, if the story involves bicycles, the work “pedal” will be in play. Not “peddle,” dammit! (See “Money, Dope and Potholes,” Oct. 23.)
And don’t get me started on the “breach”/”breech” issue. I realize English is quirky and exasperating in all its splendor, but with the standards of everything dropping faster than a sailor’s shorts on his first trip to a cathouse, somebody’s gotta draw a line and hold it!
NCJ, make us proud!

Sweet Spot: Tough choice this week! We’re tempted to propitiate our future Central Valley masters, but a sundae unclaimed is a sundae opportunity wasted. Therefore, volunteer proofreader Ernie Earnshaw wins a Bon Boniere sundae for sending our favorite letter of the week. But really, for a minute there it was anyone’s game!
Will Plaza Point put the kibosh on Arcata whippersnapper shenanigans?
