(Oct. 9, 2008) Editor:
I am tired of our local film critics always bashing a film made locally because it is not “true” to us (“Filmland,” Oct. 2). No film is true to anything unless it’s a documentary (and most times that is suspect).
We have had bad films made here (Jezebel’s Kiss, Jennifer 8) and good films (Salem’s Lot, the underrated The Majestic, American Beer).
Humboldt County is a funny family drama. It’s called “suspending your disbelief”! I don’t hear anyone in San Fran bitching that they did not have the proper scale of the Golden Gate Bridge in X-Men 3! Let it go and have fun!
