Respect Y Respeto

By North Coast Journal Readers

Editor:

The Latino Community Providers’ Network (LatinoNet) would like to thank you for your recent bilingual story highlighting the impact of immigration policy on our local community (“The Iceman Cometh,” June 26).

You mentioned LatinoNet’s monthly meeting in the article. The Vision Statement of the LatinoNet is “a North Coast where all Spanish-speaking people feel welcomed and respected, are able to access needed services and live in a healthy supportive community.” Our monthly meetings provide an opportunity for community members to work together to help meet the needs of the local Latino community. This work is especially important given the recent enforcement of an immigration policy that has led to confusion and fear in, and marginalization of, the Latino community. LatinoNet meetings are on the second Friday of each month, 12-1:30 p.m. at the Community Wellness Center (908 7th Street, Eureka) and are open to all. For additional information see: www.latinonet.net/index.php
