Genevieve Schmidt needs to add reason number 11 to her very enjoyable rant against hideous landscape fabric: It does not go away ("Why I Hate Landscape Fabric," Sept. 19). After it shreds into a disgusting tangle, somebody has to pull it up and haul it to the landfill where it remains forever and a day. Also, have you ever seen a robin get his beak stuck in the stuff? Oh, reason 12! It kills more than earthworms. One is forced to wonder about what sicko frame of mind wants to entomb the soil in this way in the first place? If you really, really want to kill weeds, just use cardboard. Mulch over it. Thank you, Genevieve!
