Human Rights Listening Forum

“We want to hear from the people living in southern Humboldt,” said Larry Miller, the commission’s longest-serving member. ”We haven’t had the opportunity to bring the commission to that area in some time. We are interested in concerns about human rights, and in any solutions the community has developed.” Established in 1965, the commission’s responsibilities include investigating complaints of human rights violations and recommending possible remedies, educating the citizens of Humboldt County about human rights, co-sponsoring events and gathering information about human rights concerns and solutions in Humboldt. “The commission has a long history of advocating for human rights in Humboldt County,” said Miller, chair of the ad hoc committee organizing this forum. “We’re looking forward to hearing from the community on the 15th.”
