Best Asian Restaurant
Let’s start with the name, Pho Thein Long. The first word in the name of the Vietnamese restaurant across from the Eureka Theater is pronounced “fuh,” not “foe.” Pho is a classic Vietnamese soup, broth with rice noodles and meat, typically beef, and the menu here has 17 different beef combinations (as well as non-trad chicken), with garnishes including fresh basil, bean sprouts and lime. The pho place also offers a Thai menu (and killer coconut shrimp), which we’re guessing helped it take top place over three Japanese joints (Tomo, Kyoto and Sushi Spot) and the new Annie’s Cambodian. In case you were wondering about the rest of the name, Thein Long is the owner’s son.
