Re: “Disquiet on the Mobile Home Front

this cowardly anonymous idiot once again tries to stay off-topic in a desperate attempt to smear those in our community who would step forward to protect affordable housing from people like him-- owner/manager of a mobile home park where rents are skyrocketing, fraud is rampant, even blackmail; threatening to evict people if they don't pay up to $500. for a month of electrical service when they only used about $30. worth.

Re: “Disquiet on the Mobile Home Front

this posting is an anonymous smear campaign by a corporation to get me to back off the issue of protecting mobilehome residents from their greed. The truth is this: A disgruntled former teacher at my preschool filed a complaint against me for violating a child's personal rights by using duct tape to repair their ill-fitting clothing; one girl had a rip in the knee of her pants that she worked on until she was tripping over the hem when she ran, so I I placed the ends of the hole together and duct taped them-- voila, she was safe to run again! The second child wore a pair of her older sister's shoes to school and when her parents dropped her off they said she was having a fit about it and they didn't have the time to deal with it. Since she was falling while walking, I taped the shoes onto her socks around her ankles, and she too was much safer. The state always investigates EVERY complaint (there are no schools without such complaints) and they came in and said "don't use duct tape". I said "Okay". Neither of the child's parents were upset by my actions, and in fact, supported the duct tape plan over the 'fall on your face' plan. End of story.

Re: “Evict 'em

Richard-

Thanks for your support! We are thinking of filing complaints with the Grand Jury against the supervisors for failure to uphold the General Plan regulations, and for subverting the public process in this issue. Might you be interested? I think the more complaints that are filed, the better!! And let's not forget that Estelle Fennell is also failing to put the issue on the agenda-- she is just keeping her mouth shut about the whole thing...

Re: “Disquiet on the Mobile Home Front

Jordan-

I suspect you are either a park owner, or related to one. The infrastructure of parks in Humboldt paid for themselves about 20 years ago! We all pay fees for its upkeep-- park owner pays NOTHING! We also pay all the park owner's taxes, PLUS our own! Banks will not make mortgages for mobile home that are over 30 years old (which most in Humboldt are), so selling the home is not the rosy option you portray. Additionally, it costs more than $10,000. to move a mobile home, IF you can find a mover that will move an older model (they can't get insured for the move), so that is also not the easy out you depict.

My park just sold for 3 million more than the owner paid for it, so NO, tenants did not confer this windfall to themselves-- the owner took the money and ran, laughing all the way to the bank while the new, corporate owner, jacks up the rents!! There is truth and reality, and there is your opinion...

Re: “Mobile Home Owners Rally over Rent

I'm pretty sure you're referring to the McKinleyville Municipal Advisory Committee (MCMAC), not the Services District, and you are absolutely right!

We are not REALLY talking about rent control-- we aren't renting homes, we are talking about lots; tiny plots of dirt that our homes sit on, and we are only asking that the fee increases are affordable, not that they cease all together. We are chained to these lots, sitting ducks just waiting to get shot down-- we can't leave our homes here, we can't move them anywhere else, and the corporations KNOW it so they just keep jacking up the fees higher and higher, up to four times a year under existing law!

I REALLY REALLY want at least one of the supervisors to stand up and say why they will not even put the item on their agenda? Forget MCMAC: they have gotten letters from their own appointed Human Rights Commission asking them to put it on the agenda, and one from the Area One Agency On Aging as well! WHY WON'T THEY PUT IT ON THE AGENDA?? Bass has said that she thinks it's "...a wonderful idea..." to take it to the voters through the initiative process. But it is HER JOB to handle this without making seniors have to spend the last years of their lives living with housing insecurity and having to hustle all over raising funds and campaigning. There are THREE different regulations in the General Plan Housing Element mandating the county to PRESERVE mobile home parks as an important source of affordable housing. WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR??
