Why should we, the public, care that our government is going broke? Our Supervisors all take home close to ten thousand dollars per month! As stated, the cost of living already through no fault of our own government is skyrocketing. Yet Humboldt's government has been steadily following their own profit motive throughout, with plans for more of the same on the table. They champion big boxes and large development projects as boons to our (read: their) tax base, yet here we are today under their thumb. They're telling us we need to give them even more money. Our supervisors are unilaterally pushing to extend urbanization, increase development and import more franchise business. "Developers" are running our government, making a killing in construction in real estate, while the remaining 99.999% of Humboldt County's residents are being asked to give those players even more money. It's corrupt, it's irreparably destroying the environment, and our representatives aren't doing anything about it but lining their pockets while making things worse.
