Re: “No COVID-19 Cases Among Fortuna School Children

"No students in Fortuna who have been attending classes onsite have tested positive for the virus." So this makes it sound like students attending classes have been tested. This is not true. There was no requirement to test and get results before entering the in person classrooms, at least at the high school. There is no directive to do repeat testing. There is no directive to do much of anything except wash, mask, distance. There is no way to for the public to see a surge in Fortuna if the reporting is not done by cities. Why?

Re: “Public Health Confirms Eight New COVID-19 Cases, Making 100 This Month

Why was a testing regimen for in classroom students, teachers, and staff not implemented in the Fortuna HS opening? A regimen that required testing and results before being allowed to enter the classroom. With protocols to quarantine and contact trace students and faculty that tested positive? And repeated testing weekly? Is that so fucking difficult? Is that too much to ask to protect the sizable senior and Mexican population in Fortuna? Anybody care to chime in? Mr. Ellebrecht, Count Health, anybody????? And why is the covid reporting not done by town so a surge can be determined? Why obfuscate or hide the numbers? We all need transparency and a common sense, science based response to this pandemic. Magical thinking will get a lot of us infected and there will be unnecessary loss of life.

Re: “Public Health Confirms Two New Cases Related to Alder Bay

Is track and trace and testing implemented for these two new cases at Alder Bay? Why can't we get the stats on that? It's time for a lot more transparency including a breakdown by towns. Let's get some meaningful statistics out there for those of us that are making the effort to stop the spread. I don't want feelgood or obfuscation, give me the truth! And as a news source please ask the hard questions and demand the answers. You will be doing us a service and probably save lives!

Re: “Saving Each Other

She's not addressing intelligent adults. She's addressing the clowns that are pushing to open the economy at all cost so the hedge fund billionaires don't loose any more money and fearless leader has good economic numbers which he feels his re-election is dependent on, at the cost of endangering vulnerable seniors. That plan will create pure chaos as the virus cycles through waves of reinfection. Use a little common sense Walker talker....

Re: “ACLU Angst

I like that idea humboldtrick, and I would even take it a step further and say that we are each individually our own ACLU. If it gets down to it you need to advocate for yourself if you feel that your constitutional rights are not being respected by individuals or organizations that like to interpret laws how they see fit. I can easily see the ACLU being taken over in a clandestine move the way certain right leaning individuals tried to take over the HCDCC here. Sounds like the national strategy needs some revamping and perhaps a change in leadership.

Re: “Pulp Mill Cleanup Continues

Previous Evergreen Vice President and current Humboldt County supervisor Rex Bohn might be able to shed some light on why the Harbor District is undertaking the cleanup. Just wondering if my dock space rent is helping to pay for this or is it on the taxpayer's dime. A little transparency would be welcome here........

Re: “A Patriot Among Us

Kudos to Marcy Burstiner for pursuing transparency and open government. It is a shame that so many in local politics think nothing of violating the Brown Act while others try to manipulate the system by pretending to be of a different political persuasion than they really are and then when in office pushing the agenda of the interests that bankrolled their campaigns. The cynical trash that runs these hypocritical campaigns are anti democratic and need to be exposed and shown the light of day. Make your case out in the open and let the public decide, the “good old boy” back room dealing days need to be relegated to the past again.
