Re: “Ground Breaking

Welcome Home Sister. After reading this article I am very optimistic. You sound like just what we need here. What I would like to see is a Nursing and a Computer Science Degree Programs.

FYI: The Mouth of the Mad river is Seal Heaven. The Sandbar on the South side is a Human Free Zone because the only way to get there is by Kayak or a Really long walk from the Park. So the seals and sea lions thrive...

Re: “Busted

In another article this issue you report that there is a problem with when to release prisoners from the Humboldt County Jail. What about not putting farmers in jail in the first place? Prison overcrowding solved. FYI: I wouldn't pay a penny on taxed sales of Legal Marijuana. I never buy it. I personally do not smoke it. However, I am Outraged by the fact that My Hard Earned Tax Dollars are being wasted. If YOU want to smoke it, I just don't care...

Re: “Busted

VOLUNTARY Taxes are a great Idea. For example: If you never Purchase Legal Marijuana in Colorado, you never Pay the Tax. Wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a way to Decrease Spending and Increase Revenues at the same time? Secretary of State Debra Bowen estimates that legalization would save the Taxpayers of California over a Hundred Million Dollars a year. Why let criminals keep all the profit?

Re: “Now, About Elk River

I was seriously considering buying a house on Elk River Road, but I asked the people at work what they thought. They said: don't buy that one because of the flooding. So I bought a different House.

Re: “Now, About Elk River

Thanks for explaining what's going on. I keep on seeing full logging trucks getting onto 101 at Herrick Ave. The Headwaters Forest is back there and there is no logging inside the reserve. The Headwaters Forest is a great place to go if you have wheels. Bicycles, strollers, skateboards, wheelchairs... NO Cars. There is a long smooth paved path and everytime I go, I see people having a good time.

Re: “Earthquake and Record Rainfall, Sunday Had it All

Did the Earthquake in Eureka affect the Atomic Waste stored at PG&E Humboldt Bay Nuclear Power plant? Is it still contained? Did it leak? How would anyone find out? If you know contact me: gregvan[at]yahoo[dot]com
