Excellent hike. Be prepared for any weather conditions. Carry several copies of tide charts and never get stuck at high tide.
My band Graffiti played Summer Arts around 1990. A great time was had by all. My favorite memory was two pairs of ospreys diving into the lake to catch fish to feed to their young in nearby nests.
Biggest concerns for homeless people, or "houseless" people as they say at Redwood Curtain Copwatch, are safety and security. We owe houseless people the right to right to a peaceful place to live.
Lying on the grass eating nachos endangers the public.
Very disappointing that a few people in Eureka are still stuck in offensive 1950's racial attitudes.
Vey informative article about elephant seals. I saw one at Trinidad in 1993. Marine mammal rescue folks were rounding up a seal from the beach when I emerged from the Seascape. I asked what was happening and they said that it was a female elephant seal in distress. I had never before heard that they were around there. When they had it safely in the back of a truck I took a close look. Boy, it stunk like crazy.
Re: “Arcata Moves Forward on Marijuana Zone”
This is good news. I strongly support medical cannabis but see rampant abuse of the system.
Cannabis growers have taken over Arcata's rental market, inflating rental rates to the point that they are un-affordable to people not making a profit from their rental units.
Greedy cannabis growers must be controlled.
