Re: “River Keepers

Your Absolutely Right Jackie We Should Look at The History and the Facts. First history, All the early accounts of the first Explorers and fur traders accounts of the Klamath, telling of the nasty green water, and stinkin dead fish, bloody Klamath Indians, Of course the white man was bloody to.Then lets look at the facts, Upper Klamath Lake, Largest fresh water lake in the USA( Natural), Now lets google it,Wow!It's,been that way and always will be that way)remember examine the (historical) facts. The blue green algae that contaminates it(sold all over the world)routinely violates State standards(Oregon)for DO'S Are The Tribes posting it as unsafe too? Are water officials in Oregon trying to do anything about it? What Tribes had to get a million dollar Grant to clean up a, 100yrs. of Illegal Dumping,It's Illegal, Whether you are An American Native or Not. And to be given tax payer money to do it? try pileing trash, garbage, and toxic materials up outside your Home for a week, see what happens to you!(Try it They might give you tax dollars)Don't look at history now, look at the pictures of the crap going into the Klamath River.Removing 4 of the dams is stupid. There are 6 cant anyone count.Removing Irongate Dam will not lower temps, raise DO's, or improve water quality there is no science that proves it, remember to look at history, only by biological opinion has Hot water been sent down river,(look at history now)at 2000 cfs down river when nature has only intended less than 1/2 of that. Hot high flows has spread disease all the way down river(Smell the dead fish now) sun light will control disease in the summer months when the water is low and the tributaries can cool the water that is left. You may think I'm a nut, but I'm a retired Klamath River Fish Culturist and there are a lot more who think like me, The Down River program DFG had there had to be shut down because they could get a Native American To do anything, So they lost their permit to Take Eggs(Camp Cr)from the POOR salmon.I don't take issue with the native Americans gill netting, if they would do it like the old woman said weave their nets, make their bows and arrows, chew hide to make clothes and live in wickiups,(history again) but with modern arms and commercial nets bought tailor made, I do, you can't have the best of both worlds and have it"LIKE IT WAS"just doesn't get it. Be careful of what you ask for, you might get it and I hope you do. What's needed is the CORRECT dam at Irongate a much Taller one with an outlet at the BOTTOM,and the river could look like (your own words)the Smith River in less than 5 years ,there would plenty of water for EVERYONE including the ones that need it the most the Oncorhynchus tshawytscha,(Chinook Salmon)

Re: “No Settlement

there wasnt 70000 fish killed and I wish people would quit saying it look on the yurok web site the day after it happened date in the archives, and you get a closer figure and there werent that many either, the fish kill was caused by biological opinion, running hot water down the river when there are returning adult fish in it is stupid. tear down dams will NOT help
