The email makes it clear of the uncertainty as to whether the trees being cut are directly related to the project, but trees are being cut and they are large trees. CalTrans has been cutting large trees along highway 101 for at least the past 8 months as part of their interstate through-way plan. Yes, believe it or not, the Richardson Grove freeway plan isn't for the sake of the local economy but to benefit interstate transport and make humboldt county just another pitstop for sleeper trucks. 10 years from now, supporters of the project will be eating their shoes, but it will be too late.
