I currently rent from Floyd and Betty Squires and I can say I have lived at 833 H. Street and it was one of the worst places I have seen since I drove through Chicago.
Cockroaches infested the whole entire building. The hallways were filled with trash, gang members, drug dealers, and guns being fired in the hallway to name a few.
Every time it rained the walls would pour down water from the appartment above me, my drywall in my kitchen fell off and it was just horrible. Even after going down to the land lord they still refused to fix the leaks.
I had enough and moved into another Squires building because I didn't have enough money for a deposit on another place and have lived here for about a year and a half.
The Eureka City Council was over the other day and had a warrent to inspect the structure. When I saw the police with them I knew they meant business. I was forced to let them in my home and I felt my privacy was invaded. I think there were 9 people in my home and they were taking pictures of my place and walking around looking at my place.
I felt very uncomfortable and I still feel like that to this day. I don't know if what they did validated a search warrent or not but why wasn't I notified about this at least 24 hours in advance? Is what the city council did legal?
Either way I don't want to live in a Floyd Squires building and I think I should sue the city for invasion of privacy.
