Mr. By Scott,
It's so sad to hear about a buying decision based on one personal interest; (the beauty of America for you & Leon.) Leon wants to create a historical legacy for his grandchildren.
As the General Manager of Leon's Car Car Centers 16 employees I would hope you'll consider Leon & his wife's (the cookie lady) contributions to so many things in our community that we all embrace... the restoration of the Madaket, Boys & girls Club of the Redwoods, the Eureka Skate Board Park, the Fourth of July celebration, Betty Chinn's meal program, the Samoa Drag Strip, The Humboldt Botanical Gardens. And then there is their time (Leon & Elaine's) tending to their churches public gardens or Leon's time with the Eureka Chamber as a past board member & president, time on the city of Eureka's sign ordinance committee, or count- less time speaking before the city council on a host of issues.
Then you should consider how much as a business we contribute to volunteer fire departments, service clubs, school fundraisers, youth projects and proud-fully maintain our part of Eureka.
Yes I believe Leon & his wife maintain some conservative interests but after nurturing and protecting a small business for 50+ years the two of them are private people who love one another as well as their family & enjoy their privacy. (You won't find them on any social club roster.)
Selfish & elitist? How about generous & private?
I hope you find another auto care center that gives as much back to the community.
