Re: “Two Deaths, Many Questions

It appears that 30 years of government/corporate divestment in our public institutions and human resources is finally supplying media with something to write about. And NOW after decades of self-censorship media expects officials to voluntarily start explaining the consequences? "No comment" is what keeps Humboldt County's house of cards intact.

Re: “Developer Schemes

No kidding!? The corruption surrounding Bohn's election was last May? Ancient history in Humboldt County!

Re: “Lying Supervisors

The development community has no problem winning average citizens into office, their republican team always pulls together no matter how average their candidate is....while democrats and liberals will only coalesce (and volunteer) behind "Jesus". I can only count six times in a generation that a Eureka council member won without the developer's support. They almost lost control of the county, but have firmly "taken it back" now. Liberal communities around the nation expected the New Depression to swell their ranks. That's why republicans began early to hinder black, Latino, poor and elderly voters with strict voter I.D. a nation where over half the eligible citizens never even participate! No local media covers this story, not one print published demands to now who was behind Rex Bohn's numerous phony front-groups or what the occupations of Bohn's top 60 donors were, (missing from his election reports). You had to search the blogs! It's a vicious cycle...more corruption, mediocre candidates, and zero press means less voters. Less voters means even more mediocre candidates and corruption.

Re: “Dumb or Devious?

Anyone who has attended the last 3 years of Planning Commission hearings, workshops, and elements....will note that Bohn, Bass, and Sundberg were never there until a few months into their campaigns.
The exception is Fennell, who was on the developer's payroll when she occasionally attended. It's up to their contributors to tutor them on the finer points of property law and manipulation that was heretofore outside their respective economic class. "Super-confusing" indeed.

Re: “Reelection Made Easy

To its credit, the NCJ traced Bohn's phony 2004 front group "Eureka Coalition For Jobs" back to a Sacramento attorney known to work for Arkley. The mailers and TV spots were estimated to cost $250,000 for a $500/month rural city council seat! No one EVER EVER EVER asks why!!!??? Ryan Burns scratched the surface of the corruption surrounding Bohn's campaign on the NCJ blog site. Bohn can't remember the development-related occupations of his 60 top donors? How much did his 6 phony front groups cost? Will Bohn report them on his disclosure forms? There was ZIP in the NCJ...or anywhere else...except the blogs! Presto.....ancient history!

Re: “Gasoline Kings

For 20 years, Rex Bohn was the public face and voice excusing the highest gas prices in the nation. And yet, not one media source dared to remind us of it when Bohn ran for our top gov. seat...despite popular outrage, local investigations and prosecution by the Ca. Att. Gen.! Little has changed since big timber ran the local political agenda....corrupt to the core.
