A Funny Thing Happened to Pi ... 

Archimedes' method for calculating π. The length of the circumference of a circle lies between the perimeters of inscribed and circumscribed polygons: the more sides, the better the accuracy. Working with a 96-sided polygon, Archimedes computed π to an accuracy of one part in 10,000.
