Re: “Marsh Homeless' Eviction Notice is Today, What's Going to Happen?

I can tell you what ultimately is going to happen... Nothing.

You can read about how it all is going to go in Saturday's Tuluwat Examiner.

Re: “Three Heads for Every Bed

There are 2 large, mainly vacant lots near the Warfinger Building, one fenced and one open, that are city owned and would make a perfect temporary legal campground for the current homeless. These properties can be made ready with little city investment and effort. The city can install toilet/shower facilities, along with a cooking area for very little money. Actual numbered camp spaces, walkways, etc. will not be expensive. Even expanding the fence to include both lots, and installing a tree/bush line around the property would be a great, inexpensive improvement over what is there now. When/If the city's "re-homing" plan gets underway, and the lots are empty, the city's investment can be recouped by transitioning the lots into a public, fee based campsite run by the marina office at the Warfinger building.

Re: “Bigger Numbers or Just Better Data? Point in Time Count is Out

Thank you for staying on top of this shocking story.

Is it too much to ask that, in the interest of the most basic human compassion, we stop referring to the destitute people living behind the Bayshore mall with the derogatory law-enforcement title "Devil's Playground"?

Journalists should not require the same offensive, denigrating language needed by authorities to sooth the conscience in order to exercise immoral, unethical, and unjust treatment of the vulnerable.

The only reason the poor are arrested and convicted more often for crimes than the rich is because they have less privacy, legal representation, and they are targeted. A random search of frat-boys attending top U.S. universities would result in a cache of cocaine and ecstasy....same with this nations "celebrities"...when they're not beating and shooting each other.

Imagine the crimes we could have avoided and the years of headlines if there were random searches of Catholic priests and Michael Jackson.

Re: “Manifest Destiny

I was very close to him for at least 5 yrs. the thing we mainly had in common were our strong anti-violence and anti-gun stances. I moved to San Diego in 2006 and lost touch with him. his number was disconnected. I later found out he did the Casino Job. but even in that he used no weapons. the only weapon he needed was his mind. wish I could find him again, I'd like to apologize for scolding him in his darkest times. we had a huge amount of shows together. I mastered four of his albums, and provided a lighting experience for his shows. I also did some art for his projects when his main man, David had prior obligations. I miss him, he's a good man. just made a couple of bad choices. ;)

These people are heroes.

Unless we can teach our children the importance of frivolously burning up the last of the cheap fuel as quickly as possible, they might not see alternative energy developed in their lifetime.

Re: “Three Heads for Every Bed

For over 15 years people have complained loudly about the blighted "Town Downer" Motel that continues to greet tourists at the historic Eureka Inn.

Eureka's numerous blighted properties, vacant structures and empty storefronts, among other serious problems being ignored, do far more harm than the desperate people living out of sight who have no other dignified options. Instead of enacting and enforcing anti-blight ordinances or re-purposing blighted properties for housing the homeless, we are tasking law-enforcement with the immoral, pointless, and costly job of further punishing the destitute.

What is well-known and confirmed again here, is that it saves taxpayer's money to provide modest independent housing for the homeless, and it's the right thing to do.

Whom ever has written lies about Nonie Jones Bishop yourway off base. Nonie has lung cancer and conjestive heart failure. If Nonie has to wear a hair piece and or wig,its due to her treatment. So readers whom ever wtote the bull about her, needs a big ass wooping.

Re: “#Arcata24hr

My favorite photo that I would buy is the one where the guy is leaping in the gas station.
Great perspective and motion.

Re: “#Arcata24hr

Thanks for both of your helpful tips.

I do like how he shoots. I, too, try to photograph from different and unusual angles/perspectives that others miss.
I look at life differently so my photography reflects that.

Even being on his page I can't sign up to FOLLOW him without an Instagram account.
What the heck?
Wonder why access is so restricted?
Am I the only one not carrying a cell phone glued to my ear?

Carry on.

Hey Ashley! You're so correct.
Thank you very much.
When I was on the Instagram home page there didn't seem to be a Search option.
Your link took me right to him.
I look forward to browsing his photos.

Re: “#Arcata24hr

I salute this guy.

Would probably really enjoy his photos but Instagram requires downloading the APP. I don't have whatever the hell device it needs to do that.

Seems pretty elitist to make such a requirement.

And yes, I know I'm a dinosaur.

Alas, shut out from art.

Re: “Rah Raw Raw

As long is the dairy farm checks EVERY DAY for mastitis I don't see a problem with it. That is why most store bought milk has been pasteurized at least twice to kill the effects of mastitis and other very dangerous bacteria. Personally I get asthma from the casein in milk so Milk & any kind of Cheese is a no no for me. Another problem with milk of any kind is its packed full of growth hormones.
