Said Donald Trump thinking that people were talking about the hair on his head. Not.
My thoughts on two of the Boards recent actions:
glad *some*one's keepin it real... death that bitch ;-)
Who would have thought that the marijuana "industry" would turn out to be worse than the lumber industry was for this area? A cost/benefit analysis and comparison of the two would be interesting, I bet Maxxam ends up looking pretty golden.
Q. Where are the Forest Defenders now?
A. They took their settlement moneys and ran to the hills to destroy the ecosystem more thoroughly than the lumber industry ever could.
What's really funny is the hidden, perhaps unintentional reference to http://wattsupwiththat.com/ Run by Northern California's own Anthony Watts, with frequent guest articles from many scientists in many fields. Not that we shouldn't care about the environmental evils of power sourced from coal and dams, but if 1 in 4 of us don't believe in human caused climate change, it kinda saps the urgency of the message.
My fifteen-year-old Camry has a spoiler, which came with the car when I bought it used in 1998. I can't imagine driving around without it. It adds that extra measure of stability that gives me confidence when I am driving at high speed. Even backing down my driveway, I feel sure that it gives me the control over my vehicle that I need to avoid running over letter carriers or kids on trikes.
Hmmmm....used to be a $50 fine. At least it looks better than parking on the lawn...lol
I actually call that "San Francisco Style" parking. I've noticed a lot of cars park like that down there. Probably because a lot of the streets aren't real wide. Less chance of your car getting clipped by another car driving by that way.
Joel, how beautiful.
"Eureka Christians Against Marijuana!"?
Thank you for 2013 Eureka Christians Against Marijuana!
Seasons--to each his own---
Its well drawn and fun and thoughtful Joel as your work usually is.
But seeing that Heidi has an article with solstice thoughts in it too - I don't know, it seems unnecessary. It's a conflict with the right I just have zero interest in. There are 3 other chances in the calendar to pass along similar justified science notes, but I see no need to crow my agnostic lack-of-faith in this season.
I do feel the spirit of the season, for whatever reason. I think one of the reasons is the bipolar (no pun intended) relationship "the season" has with capitalism. On the one hand most retailer's bottom lines are achieved in this season, on the other the sanctity of the 25th is (or at least was) partially recognized by the absence of commerce.
I think our society would be best served if we continued the trend of de-emphasizing commerce and getting back to spirituality - and for some that is Christianity and Christmas and that is just fine - in fact preferred - by me. (as is Islam, or Judaism, or Wiccan, or UU, or Bhuddist, or Sufi, or.......)
Happy Kwaanza, Joel!
Best Solstice greetings and happy New Year to all.
I'm glad you didn't resort to the "Full Monty."
Thanks (and apologies), but in a season that inspires people to put inflatable "decorations" in their yards, a cartoonist must resort to extremes.
tasteless but funny.
Our Mayor has a striking resemblance to Moe Howard!
I've gathered and transplanted some nice moss, licorice ferns, and even rushes from my gutters.
