Re: “Eureka, Meet Your Captains

Despite 5(?) citizens deaths at the hands of law enforcement in as many years, and despite the Ferguson riots, you'd think they'd wait until the investigation is completed in the Tommy McClain killing before promoting the officer in charge!

Shame on local media for regurgitating police claims that the shooting was "justifiable" weeks before the investigation is complete. Where's the headlines of the witnesses' statements contradicting police claims? Where's the reporting of the cumulative costs of so many killings that are, at best, avoidable, and at worst, unjustifiable?

Re: “Voter Turnaway

Isn't it interesting people avid the very elections where their personal votes matter the most and come out in relative droves for those that have more national appeal. The local level is where everything happens, where our personal lives are impacted the most but so few even know the names of their local representatives and leaders.

Maybe the next major issue should be to increase the number of states with same day registration given the impact on voter turnout.
