Re: “Black and White

With all due respect to Chief Mills, please stop asking people of color to be the sole educators around how to deconstruct whiteness. There are many white people in the community who might be willing to guide/educate/mentor EPD; the people I've heard and worked with are committed to not speaking FOR people of color. They speak on the truths of what the role of whites has to be in order to make progress toward real equity. I'll email you personally to share this as well.

Eureka's police chief will graciously allow you to peacefully exercise rights that do not require his permission.

And just in case there's any problem....

Re: “'A Dire Situation'

Putting our community's most vulnerable elderly at risk is a major public health threat that requires immediate intervention by officials to take these facilities through eminent domain and let the courts figure out later what the fair market value is for the land and structures... since this business has been "losing money" and is worthless.

The first duty of government to to protect the powerless from the powerful.

This is an unacceptable and avoidable tragedy with deadly consequences.

Re: “'A Dire Situation'

It is time to put pressure directly on Mr. Shlomo Rechnitz.
Thanks to Patty Berg and Wes Chesbro for this, but can they now help us to put pressure on Shlomo Rechnitz? It would require getting to him where he lives. What Temple does he attend and who is his Rabbi? This is where the protests need to be held as he clearly presents himself as a pious man:…

Re: “Brius This, Seaview That

I would like to know what happened 18 months ago that Rockport started losing money. Marijuana was here when Rockport was making money so there is no credence to blaming the marijuana industry for the dearth of people wanting to work for $12 an hour.I don't believe that Rockport is giving a true account of its losses. Rockport reports anything that does not meet its profit expectations as a loss. nobody would care if Rockport put profits first if Rockport were just selling bricks but Rockport provides healthcare services to our seniors.
I don't care to count Schlomo's money. I don't care for any of the content of this garbage retread article. these two patients have been discussed in numerous other articles by the author. I don't care for the administrator of Seaview being smeared in another of this authors articles. Seaview is not the only one star nursing home in this region. Get over your personal grudge.

This was deeply moving and profoundly well written. Kudos for pointing out that the personal greed of one man, not corporate greed - has resulted in a tragedy, and that we are all obligated to speak up.

Re: “Brius This, Seaview That

I use to work under Lorena she doesn't care for the resident.this women never went to see them she always understaffed all but morning shifts. Her schedule 4 on 2 off doesn't work. She promises you one thing and does the complete opposit. Does anyone remember the law suit a few years back against a sister facility in fortuna? Cost a lot of money did it not? Well from what I understood that was because Lorena ran the facility down like she always does, but they got caught, just like she is doing at seaview. She does not have the well-being of her residents nor her staff. Her staff has to get hurt before dangerous equipment will be replaced or fixed. I loved helping my resident I despised my administrator for her heart was not with the staff nor residents that resides there. She wanted minimal care with the most resident. When Roger ran the facility it was a totally different facility, and when they replaced it with her it destroyed the building and all those in it.
