Re: “The Death of Jeannie Newstrom

Bressler, a Nurse Aid is being prosecuted as we speak after a doctor and a Nurse signed a release stating there was nothing wrong with Mrs. Jeannie Newstrom upon release to Frys Nursing home. Is that not a travesty and an attempt to transfer blame away from a Doctor and a Registered Nurse

Re: “Prepare for Impact

The real reason for this law was not because of the Disneyland outbreak, but because the senior scientist William Thompson who worked on the main study exonerating vaccines from causing autism, came forward in 2014 to say there was fraud at the CDC when the study was conducted. Congressman Posey of Florida is working on getting him a subpoena to come testify before congress. If vaccines are mandated, whatever is revealed in congress won't matter because parents won't be able to opt out of vaccines. I was in Sacramento when this law was waiting approval in the Assembly education committee and watched live when it was up for a vote in the Senate health committee. I challenge anyone to watch (it should be on you tube) this and see how the chair, Liu, made a mockery of the legislative system by basically telling Senator Pan he should withdraw his bill from the committee because he didn't have enough votes for it to pass and reintroduce it at a later time. This law would have died right there. But no, at the next Senate health committee, some Senators had been removed and new ones were there, and guess what, these new ones were all in favor of sb277. This is an outrage and joke on our legislative system. Think about it and research it. Which is, btw, all parents who stopped vaccinating are asking. Think and research vaccines, and once you have all the facts, then decide. Because parents certainly don't have all the facts. Hearing that vaccines are safe and effective by doctors who read the Thompson study (which is fraudulent and show that yes, there is a link between vaccine and autism!), doesn't grant them all the facts. It take a lot of courage to step out of your comfort zone and objectively look at this issue. And it's agonizing for many parents who are torn between the thought of endangering their kids if they don't vaccinate or if they do. At the end of the day, the only answer to this is to research vaccine ingredients, side effects, ask for the vaccine insert (not the typical one-pager about why vaccines are necessary, that is given by pediatrician. No, the actual vaccine insert. And then ask questions and see how your doctor reacts. You may be surprised. One last thing regarding having kids under-vaccinated infecting others... Kids with HIV are allowed in school and their privacy is guarded. You will never know who they are. And yes, it can be transmitted by blood contact, not just sexually. I would say that is a serious consideration for not only the immunocompromised but all kids. So thinking that your children are "safe" in school because now all kids will have to be vaccinated is simply an illusion. Research vaccines. Watch the movie Vaxxed! It's a best seller on amazon now. Those 4 bucks will change your perspective in this issue forever. All it takes is to have an open mind and have the courage to question what you thought you knew for sure. Step out of your comfort zone.

Re: “A Waiting Game

The Samoa housing expansion will have unmitigated negative impacts on Eureka's deadly traffic.

The Highway 1 "Safety Corridor" will start becoming inundated by high tides in 2 to 3 decades and will be completely submerged in 80 years.

Loosening coastal dependent zoning restrictions would be another step backward towards an era that left the entire bay wrapped in job-killing brownfields.

I hope the selection is NOT from my county, all our supervisors and their appointees are lackeys for the short term greed of the development industry.

Re: “Into and Out of the Theater Business

The sound system is so messed up at this theatre that the most wonderful band sounds terrible. I hope the previous owners fix it before selling it, or the new owners will be stuck dealing with the problem.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

Children with IEPs are exempt from SB277: "(h) This section does not prohibit a pupil who qualifies for an individualized education program, pursuant to federal law and Section 56026 of the Education Code, from accessing any special education and related services required by his or her individualized education program." So, if a child's IEP states they are to receive instruction in a public school setting, they can attend public school, vaccinated or not.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

From the article "the bill mandated a medical treatment for children that some fear has adverse health impacts"

It's not just the "fear" of "some". A real journalist (something we have precious few of any more) would know that there is no question that vaccines can and do cause harm. Let me correct that phrase for you;

"the bill mandated a medical treatment for children that in some cases has severe adverse health impacts"

EVERY medical procedure has risks. Look it up.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

Vaccines have been mandated for decades; removing personal belief or religious exemptions is not about health or even about vaccines. It is about allowing the government to dictate that we must allow whatever they say into our and our children's bodies. That is medical tyranny, assault and a very high violation of freedom and autonomy. It is about really bad people with their own goals.

While vaccination rates have dropped since the exemptions have been threatened, that is just the price that moneygrubbing, power-hungry tyrants put upon us all. Vaccination rates were high enough for the herd immunity; don't know whether that will remain the case now that we've had interference.

I've noticed that the HPV vaccine, whether Gardasil or another brand, is up for becoming mandatory. What reasoning does marketing science declare for this? Herd immunity can't be the excuse for forcing this vaccine that supposedly prevents an easily curable cancer - cervical cancer.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

If people believe so strongly in these vaccines, and there effectiveness, then why can a vaccinated child still contract a disease for which they have been vaccinated for? And the horrible outbreak which was used as a scare tactics to push this bill resulted in how many death? Oh yeah none, seems pretty cut and dry to me, it's all about the money from top to bottom. I went from kindergarten through college without any vaccines and never once did I get sick or infect any of the thousands or peers I came in contact with over the years.

Call it what you will Dorado- it's all good and I grew up eating Santa Maria style. Worked for the king of it down there in Arroyo Grande back in the day- Fred Sweeney! This is deep pit beef- hardly "roast beef". If you haven't had it you don't know it but you should try it.

Re: “Three Skilled Nursing Facilities May Close

Maybe if Rockport Healthcare Services would pay their workers a decent wage and hired enough people so the existing staff isn't overworked they wouldn't have "a severe staffing crisis". But I guess you can't do that and maximize executive salaries and bonuses at the same time. Dog kennels are more humane than most of the care homes anyway, even the expensive ones. Hire a live in caregiver directly, not from a company, and a lvn to visit as needed for mom and give her a break and save money too.
Healthcare is too important to leave in the hands of Corporate America. Or I don't know, the local government is so corrupt and incompetent they can't even buy adequate car insurance, hire a functioning mental health department, or even maintain roads and parks. Maybe the answer is more slaves.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

Senator Pan and SB 277 are not based on logic. More likely they are based on the profits of the lobbyists that pushed it.

1) No equivalent vaccine requirement to:

a) Work in a restaurant in direct contact with your food
b) Enter a restaurant and breath, sneeze, and re-use your plate in the salad bar
c) Sit in close proximity with passengers in recycled air on airlines
d) Work as a staffer or Senator at the State Capitol - which is visited by many groups of school children
e) Visit Disneyland and waterparks - an unvaccinated child is still allowed to fly from a dirty Rio or Mumbai slum and mingle at Disneyland (where the infamous "outbreak" occurred). They can spit all over the shared handrails.

2) Over a dozen Vaccines mandated to:

a) sit in a desk in a classroom - public or private.

This includes vaccines for for HEP-B, which is generally an STD shared by blood and needles! What risk does a HEP-b negative, unvaccinated, child pose to others?

This is an insidious approach - because failure to fully vaccinate - a civil statute - can lead to CPS and criminal prosecution for allowing a child to be truant.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

Believing myths about vaccines is not the same thing as ''getting the facts'' and that is the core problem.

If a lawyer paid you 750,000, and you FAKED test results, did invasive tests on CHILDREN, caused mass worldwide panic, whilst patenting your own ALTERNATIVE vaccine, and TEST KITS in the hope of making $MILLIONS more.

you would be ARRESTED and sent to JAIL for child endangerment and FRAUD.

Then WHY do people think it's OK for ''Doctor'' Wakefield to do it? and WHY aren't they disgusted?

Why are vaccines even a choice? It should be child abuse to deny your kids their immunizations.

100% of the people who are bald eat food, so food must cause baldness, I don't want my kids to be bald, so I'm not going to give them food.

Sound ridiculous? That's how ridiculous anti-vaxxers sound to me.

Vaccinating is a social responsibility to protect the most vulnerable among us. Epileptics have the choice to not take their meds, but they don't have the choice to not take their meds and drive on our roads. Your freedom to swing your arms around stops at my nose. Drinking and driving is illegal, because it is a choice that has the high potential to adversely effect other people who didn't get a say in the matter. Seatbelts are mandatory for the same reason. These diseases kill, maim, and cause suffering; not just for the ones who choose to be at risk, but for those who don't have a choice.

Re: “Prepare for Impact

Vaccines are not medical treatments. They are preventive measures. Schools have always been on the front line and responsible for implementation. If they're surprised by this, they haven't been doing their job. Vaccine safety is well established globally. Mandated vaccines have been upheld by courts, including the US Supreme Court, consistently for over a century. Public health and safety trumps individual belief.

Re: “Three Skilled Nursing Facilities May Close

If the U.S. will not ensure we have adequate numbers of health care professionals, driving up costs and causing deadly shortages, we should stop protecting the industry and invite certified professionals from other nations eager to come.

It's time to put an end to bankrupting individuals and families needing basic healthcare.
