Re: “Homeless State University

I dunno if you can plan around it. The rental agents leave the places open on Craig's list so folks keep paying that $20 application fee. The greed of PPM is unconscionable, the city needs to put their scans in check.

Re: “Homeless State University

This is the epitome of poor planning, not only by HSU, but on the part of the students. It is normal to hear numerous excuses for everything in Humboldt County, and lots of governmental whining about why they just can't do anything to improve, but to dump over 6000 "students" into a community incapable of housing them and into a county unable to provide basic services is absolutely reprehensible.
Students can vote by going elsewhere, if qualified, but in the meanwhile, call the Governor's office and complain.

Re: “G Street Squat

We here at 1625 G Street request another correction and exspect you too get your information right as this article directly and adversly affects us. In your article you state
"The Eureka Police Department has visited the old Victorian at 1635 G St., and the neighboring property, at 1625 G St., 60 times in the last six months."
There have been calls to police from 1625 G regarding 1635 G, I can not think of one call that was for our address.
Please do some proper research.

Re: “There Will Be Trolls

The people who edit trolls are probably the very same people who would consider any comment made by the entire voting block of Trump a troll. Roughly HALF of the US population vituperitvely dissagree with each other. Shutting down the voice of half the population because the left leaning media doesn't like it is only going to leave more surprises to unravel. Gird up your loins (pull up your big girl panties) and quit getting feelings hurt! Bring on the comments!

Re: “G Street Squat

Typical.

In Eureka, it's the blind leading the blind...A chain of bigoted fools.

Decades of developer/speculator control of local government has insured that the tools that get affordable and SRO housing constructed never see the light of day.

The solution is the same for homelessness.

It's cheaper to build tiny apartment complexes for the low-income and the homeless than to have $150/hour police, fire, emergency-room personnel, mental health professionals, drug rehab facilities, jail and juvenile hall to inefficiently and ineffectively micromanage destitute individuals and families. It's idiotic to chase them from one disastrous tenement, makeshift camp, or sidewalk, to another.

Put a Gorilla in a poorly maintained cage and the zoo-keepers get feces thrown at them.

Re: “G Street Squat

Kay46, maybe you and other tenants need to take Squires to court? Stop leaving it up to the city to protect your rights as a tenant, only outcome going through the city is your loss.

Re: “G Street Squat

The address in this article is incorrect, the correct address is 1635 G Street. I live at 1625 G Street and was at the meeting along with my room mates.
The 60 plus police visits have not been to our address at 1625 they have been visits to 163. G Street, in fact myself and my room mates have probebly generated 15 -20 of the call's to police desperate to get some scence of saftey in our home that is right next door to this out of control dangerous house of sqauters.
We are afraid to walk out in the hallway at night, not to mention how nerve racking it is to take our dogs out at night. We are good people and do not want people to confuse us with whats going on next door. We do have a good friend that moved into the house next door before all the problems began, this person live in fear everyday because of the group of peple controling the building. Some people can not just pick up and move, its not that easy. Squires just never do what he supposed to do so he's definitely not going to get deposit back and things to do we can move.we want the same thing everybody else does we want a peaceful neighborhood and a nice place to live.
