Youth Driving Safety. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Community Wellness Center, 908 7th St., Eureka. Teaching teens about choices related to unsafe driving and how alcohol and other drug use affects our bodies, minds, relationships and future. Open to youth 15 – 20 years old. Call to sig-up. 445-6024
The only addition that I would like to see added is that there is a parent component from 10 – 12:30, and then a free lunch is provided for all participants.

What: Alcohol, Other Drugs, Driving & the Law Workshop
When: Saturday April 16, 2011
Who: Young people (ages 15-20) and their parents

Time: 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM- Complimentary lunch included
Why: To learn how choices related to unsafe driving and alcohol and/or other drug use can affect our bodies, minds, relationships, and future.

Additional Information if Space Allows:
The Department of Health & Human Services has teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of the Redwoods to offer free monthly workshops for teens and parents. The teen session lasts from 10 AM- 3 PM and the parent session lasts from 10 AM- 12:30 PM. Workshop topics include: myths and facts around alcohol and/or other drug use and unsafe driving, how alcohol and other drugs affect the body and mind, legal consequences related to AOD use and unsafe driving, refusal skills and passenger safety.
Parents and young people under the age of 21 who are driving or learning to drive are welcomed, as are young people who are thinking about or already engaged in alcohol and/or other drug use. To sign up please call Dawn 445-6024.
